Inabel handwoven textiles of the Ilocos region. Handwoven by Ilocano artisans on traditional wooden looms using weaving techniques passed on through generations.

History records reveals that when Spain colonized the Ilocos region in the 1500’s inabel was traded along northern coasts, blankets and even sails for galleons.

Today due to local market being flooded with factory-processed imported textiles – not to mention the enticement of higher income generating jobs in foreign countries – the number of weavers willing to continue the tradition of textile weaving has been dramatically reduced.

Through your patronage your are helping keep the inabel tradition alive.
